TAMPA BAY AREA REGIONAL TRANSPORTION AUTHORITY

METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATIONS

CHAIRS COORDINATING COMMITTEE

On April 14, 2016, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed House Bill 7061 into law; the legislation took effect on July 1, 2016. Effective July 1, 2016, as a result of House Bill 7061, the West Central Florida MPOs Chairs Coordinating Committee (CCC) was merged into the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) and is now referred to as the TBARTA MPOs CCC. The CCC Board, MPO Staff Directors Committee, and Regional Multi-Use Trail Committee are now an integral part of TBARTA and the region’s transportation planning efforts. In regards to the Joint Citizens Advisory Council, previously, as a result of changes to the TBARTA Bylaws effective December 2014, the TBARTA Citizens Advisory Committee shall have one representative from each CCC MPO that is a member of the Joint Citizens Advisory Committee of the CCC and may serve as an advisor to the TBARTA CAC (total of 6 advisors).

The Chairs Coordinating Committee (CCC) was created in 1991 to address our region’s transportation challenge on a regional, long-range basis. Issues such as personal mobility, access to jobs, goods movement, emergency evacuation, and growth management are some of the concerns addressed by the CCC, which is made up of the chairpersons from Metropolitan Planning Organizations and a Transportation Planning Organization (MPOs and TPOs) and their affiliated, transportation-related organizations.

The goal of the CCC is to prioritize and find ways to address the transportation needs of West Central Florida. The CCC achieves these goals through the support and cooperation of its member agencies, partner entities and advisory committees. The CCC develops regional solutions to transportation problems and ensures a consistent regional planning approach among the six member agencies. In that context, the CCC is responsible for the following activities:

The TBARTA MPOs CCC is responsible for planning documents and regional priorities, including the Transportation Regional Incentive Program (TRIP) and West Central Florida Regional Roadway Network. Since 2010, the CCC has contracted TBARTA to provide organization and administrative services for the functions of the CCC. Meeting information is available on the TBARTA Calendar.
