In 2009, TBARTA developed a Regional Transportation Master Plan for Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota Counties. While considering all modes of transportation, the TBARTA Master Plan initially focused on providing the framework for integrated regional transit to serve all parts of the region. In 2011, TBARTA updated the Master Plan to include the Regional Roadway Network, Regional Freight Network, and Air Quality issues.
TBARTA has since identified corridors for further detailed study, with help from transit providers, Metropolitan Planning Organizations and TBARTA Committees.
During 2013, refinements were made to the Regional Master Plan based on progress made on the studies. Updates were also made to reflect local efforts underway that work toward the regional vision for transportation.
As of January 2015, some studies are complete, while others are still in progress.
