Comprehensive Plan Policies

Local communities’ Comprehensive Plans provide the framework upon which land development regulations are formed and implemented.  These Comprehensive Plans indicate how prepared our communities are to accommodate and encourage Transit Oriented Development (TOD).

In order to provide guidance related to the development and redevelopment of property around stations, the Land Use Working Group developed a set of model policies intended to be applied within ½ mile around a transit station.  These model policies will be included in the TOD Resource Guide.  Communities can enhance their Comprehensive Plans’ ability to achieve compact, walkable, and economically sustainable development by adopting policies that focus on land use, connectivity, mobility, and community design.
